Lerida Estate was founded in 1922 by the Norwegian Panama Canal engineer Tollef B. Monniche. Using his technical expertise, he created a cutting-edge wet/dry processing plant and invented the "sifon" siphon-style coffee cherry processing system (which separates the less-dense floaters from the water tank during the washing process and is now widely used in coffee-producing regions worldwide). Talk about a patent-worthy innovation!

Located in the Baru Volcano area of Boquete, Lerida sits at an altitude of over 1,600 meters with a unique microclimate, abundant rainfall of 2000mm, and significant temperature fluctuations between day and night. Coupled with the nutrient-rich volcanic soil, meticulous harvest planning, and strict monitoring of the water-washed fermentation and natural sun-drying processes, Lerida produces outstanding coffee with a rich body and well-balanced acidity.

This estate has a long-standing tradition of growing premium coffee, dating back to 1929 when Lerida exported its first batch of beans to Germany, receiving high praise and appreciation. Not only is Lerida a renowned boutique estate, but it's also a famous eco-friendly leisure hotel. This double-edged income strategy allows the farm to focus on maintaining its rich biodiversity and protecting the thriving tropical rainforest surrounding it. With over 500 different bird species living in the rainforest, bird-watching has become a major attraction.
